British Empire Exhibition, LNER poster, 1925
Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to the second season of the British Empire Exhibition, which was opened by King George V in May 1925. The poster shows a stylised sea-bird flying above a Viking sailing ship, while the border around the image depicts two soldiers and a number of exhibition pavilions, representing the colonies of the British Empire. Artwork by V Hicks and Charles Shep Shepherd, who studied art under Paul Woodroffe and was head of the studio at the Baynard Press.
