April 22, 2010, a new era began for Bristol City Football Club as Steve Coppell made his Championship debut as manager at Ashton Gate Stadium. The veteran manager, who had previously enjoyed success with clubs such as Crystal Palace, Reading, and Swindon Town, took over the reins from Chris Coleman in February 2010. In his first game in charge, Coppell led his team out against Cardiff City, with the weight of expectation heavy on his shoulders. The old girl's stadium was filled to capacity as the fans eagerly anticipated a fresh start under their new manager. The atmosphere was electric, with the supporters determined to see their team climb the table and secure a place in the play-offs. Coppell's team lined up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Nicky Maynard and Steve Davies leading the line. The first half was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to find the back of the net.
