Charlie Oatway's connection to Brighton & Hove Albion spans over three decades. He first joined the Seagulls as a player in 1972, making his debut in a 1-1 draw against Swansea Town. Over the next eight years, Oatway made over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and becoming a fan favorite for his tenacious midfield play. After retiring from professional football in 1980, Oatway remained involved with Brighton & Hove Albion in various capacities. He served as the club's reserve team manager from 1983 to 1986 and later became the first team coach under Brian Horton in 1994. Oatway's dedication to the club was unwavering, and he continued to support Brighton & Hove Albion through their ups and downs. In 2007, Oatway made a triumphant return to the Amex Stadium as a guest of honor for the club's annual Legends Day.
