Bottlenose Dolphin - recently born calf swims with mother - The pregnancy lasted 54 weeks. The male calf was born July 2nd 2010 at 8:02 am and started to take milk 2 and half hours after birth (feeding at an average of two/three times per hour). At birth its weight was roughly 16 kg and 120cm in length. After 20 days its weight was 31 kg. The mother is Blue, a female born in Delphinarium Rimini Italy in 1996. Born on July 2nd, 2010 at precisely 8:02 am, this male calf wasted no time in diving into life. Within just two and a half hours of his grand entrance, he eagerly latched onto his mother for some much-needed milk. With an insatiable appetite like no other, our tiny hero fed an average of two to three times per hour - talk about being a hungry little fish! Starting off at around 16 kg and measuring approximately 120cm in length, it didn't take long for him to pack on the pounds. In just twenty days, he tipped the scales at a whopping 31 kg!
