Nanus are members of the Molossidae family of mammals, which includes dogs, foxes, and wolves, and are found in South America and have a wide range of sizes and colors. The smallest species is the tiny Nanus pygmaeus, which is only about 8 inches long. These animals are omnivorous, eating both plants and small animals like insects. They live in burrows or dens that they dig themselves or occupy abandoned ones from other animals. They also use their strong claws to climb trees for food or shelter from predators and can social creatures that live in groups of up to 20 individuals with a single dominant male leading them all.
