The photograph, taken in 1821, depicts a young Bismarck being carried off to boarding school in Berlin by his tutor, Johann Christian Friedrich Höhne, and his landlord, Johann Christian Friedrich Rohling. Bismarck, born on April 1, 1815, in Schönhausen, Prussia, was the eldest son of a Junker family.
