A Block of Fourth Avenue in Fairbanks Along Creek Street, Downtown of Ketchikan, Alaska, United States of America Featured Artie Photography (Artie Ng) Print

A Block of Fourth Avenue in Fairbanks Along Creek Street, Downtown of Ketchikan, Alaska, United States of America

Looking down Creek Street, immediately outside of Ketchikan's downtown near the mouth of Ketchikan Creek. Creek Street, along with a block of Fourth Avenue in Fairbanks, were Alaska's two significant red-light districts until the passage of the Anti-Crib Laws in the early 1950s. Ketchikan is a city in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Alaska, United States, the southeasternmost city in Alaska. Ketchikan is located on Revillagigedo Island, so named in 1793 by Captain George Vancouver. Ketchikan is named after Ketchikan Creek, which flows through the town, emptying into the Tongass Narrows a short distance southeast of its downtown. The area near the mouth of Ketchikan Creek later earned Ketchikan a measure of infamy during the first half of the 20th century for a red-light district known as Creek Street, with brothels aligned on either side of the creek

Sunrise at the Top of Wave Rock (Hyden Rock), Hyden, Western Australia Featured Artie Photography (Artie Ng) Print

Sunrise at the Top of Wave Rock (Hyden Rock), Hyden, Western Australia

Wave Rock is a natural rock formation that is shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave. The wave forms the north side of a solitary hill, which is known as Hyden Rock'. Wave Rock and Hyden Rock are part of Hyden Wildlife Park.
A wall lies above Wave Rock about halfway up Hyden Rock and follows the contours of the wall. It collects and funnels rainwater to a storage dam. The wall and dam were constructed in December 1928 by the Public Works Department for the original settlers of East Karlgarin District. Both were renovated in 1951 to increase water capacity for the Hyden Township

Interior Pillars of Ekambareswarar Temple, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India

Ekambareswarar Temple or Ekambaranathar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in the town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, India. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, and specifically the element of earth, or Prithvi. Shiva is worshiped as Ekambareswarar or Ekambaranathar, and is represented by the lingam, with his idol referred to as Prithvi lingam. The temple complex covers 25 acres, and is one of the largest in India. It houses four gateway towers known as gopurams. The tallest is the southern tower, with 11 stories and a height of 55 metres, making it one of the tallest temple towers in India and one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the city
