Sturts Desert Peas
Sturt's Desert Pea (described as Clianthus formosus) was adopted as the floral emblem of the state of South Australia on 23 November 1961. The iconic status of Sturt's Desert Pea in Australia, and particularly in South Australia, has ensured its use as a popular subject in artwork and photography, as well as a decorative motif, and in a range of commercial uses. Sturt's Desert Pea has also made many appearances in prose and verse, as well as featuring in some aboriginal legends

Pink Flannel Flower (Actinotus forsythii)
Pink Flannel flowers (Actinotus forsythii) in full bloom in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. These flowers are extremely rare and can be seen on exposed rocky escarpments in this region and in scattered parts of eastern Australia, from the Blue Mountains to north-eastern Victoria. They are rare as they rely on rain fall after a bush fire for seed germination to occur and flowering usually occurs in late summer. During the summer of 2019-2020 in Australia fires ripped through the Blue Mountains World Heritage area damaging nearly 80% of the area. Twelve months on nature is rebounding and these flowers are part of the regeneration process
