A Sleepy Ring-Tailed Lemur, Island of Madagascar

The ring-tailed lemur is a large strepsirrhine primate and the most recognized lemur due to its long, black and white ringed tail. It belongs to Lemuridae, one of five lemur families, and is the only member of the Lemur genus. Like all lemurs it is endemic to the island of Madagascar and inhabits gallery forests to spiny scrub in the southern regions of the island. It is omnivorous and the most terrestrial of extant lemurs. The animal is diurnal, being active exclusively in daylight hours

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Artie Photography captures the essence of a sleepy ring-tailed lemur, found exclusively on the island of Madagascar. The ring-tailed lemur is easily recognizable due to its long, black and white ringed tail, making it one of the most iconic lemurs in existence. As a member of Lemuridae, this primate stands out as the sole representative of the Lemur genus. Inhabiting various habitats ranging from gallery forests to spiny scrub in southern Madagascar, this omnivorous creature has adapted well to terrestrial life. Unlike many other lemurs that are nocturnal, the ring-tailed lemur is diurnal and can be observed actively engaging during daylight hours. The image showcases a moment frozen in time - a tired ring-tailed lemur sitting upright amidst nature's beauty. Its expressive eyes convey both tranquility and weariness after a day spent exploring its forest home. With lush greenery surrounding it and basking under warm sunlight filtering through tree branches, this animal finds solace in sunbathing while embracing its natural habitat. Artie Ng's photography perfectly encapsulates the wildness and allure of these remarkable creatures living on an isolated island brimming with biodiversity. This stunning vertical color image serves as a reminder of our planet's incredible wildlife diversity and encourages us to appreciate and protect these unique species for generations to come.
