Wonderful moments, breathtaking landscapes & intimate encounters with the natural world, places & people

I’m Ian Beattie and welcome to my collection. When I first started taking photos, cameras were powered by steam, Kodachrome was king and ‘auto focus’ was something out of science fiction. Over the years the technology has changed dramatically but not that thrill that comes with pressing the shutter and capturing a unique sliver of time.

For forty years my camera has allowed me to capture and share thousands of wonderful moments, breathtaking landscapes, intimate encounters with the natural world, places I’ve travelled and people I’ve met.

I’d like to say that I work hard at my photography, but I don’t. It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s just that photography is my ‘happy’ place, a stress free zone away from the hassles of everyday life and I refuse to ruin it by taking it too seriously. For me the fun is in walking out the door, camera in hand and waiting to see what chance throws my way. Of course if it happens to be in some far off place that I’ve never been before so much the better. I’m not saying this is the best approach but I love the fact that, like Forrest Gump, you never knew what you were going to get.

Choose from 4,092 pictures in our Ian Beattie Photography collection for your Wall Art or Photo Gift. All professionally made for Quick Shipping. We are proud to offer this selection in partnership with Auscape Photo Library.

A camping and picnic area on the Murray River

A camping and picnic area on the Murray River, longest permanent river in the jarrah forest and one of the few major rivers not dammed. In spring and summer the river flows slowly and is a favourite with canoeists; in winter its white water and fast current challenge more experienced canoeists and kayakers.
