Sigra the Sumatran tiger, at Dublin Zoo, Ireland. 16/03/2004: Habitat loss and illegal trade in animal parts threatens the Sumatran tiger - the last of Indonesia's tiger species, according to a report out Tuesday March 16, 2004. It reveals that at least 50 Sumatran tigers have been poached per year between 1998 and 2002. A report issued by the wildlife trade monitoring network, Traffic and the conservation charity World Wildlife Fund, entitled: Trade of the Sumatran Tiger, that the species may become extinct in a few years unless poaching and destruction of its habititat are stopped immediately. The report states that less than 500 of the species remain in the wild and more than 50 were killed annually in 1998-2002
