Josef Wilhelm Wallander Collection

Josef Wilhelm Wallander was a Swedish painter and sculptor who was born in 1821. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm and later traveled to Paris to study with the French artist Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. His work is characterized by its romanticism, which often featured landscapes, portraits, and genre scenes. He also created several sculptures during his career. Wallander's works were exhibited in Sweden and abroad, including at the Paris Salon in 1855. He was awarded several medals for his artworks throughout his lifetime, including a gold medal from the Royal Academy of Arts in 1858.
