His early works were influenced by Impressionism, but he later developed an expressionist style which focused on the emotional impact of nature rather than its physical appearance. He also experimented with abstraction, using bright colors to create dynamic compositions that explored light and movement. Throughout his career, Vogel exhibited widely throughout Europe and America, including at the Armory Show in New York City (1913). His work is held in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and The National Gallery of Canada.
