John Vachon Collection

John Vachon (1914-1975) was an American photographer and photojournalist. He is best known for his work with the Farm Security Administration (FSA) during the Great Depression, when he documented rural America and its people. His photographs showed a unique perspective of life in small towns, farms, and cities across the country. He also worked as a freelance photographer for Life magazine, where he captured images of everyday life in Europe during World War II. After the war, Vachon continued to work as a freelance photographer until his death in 1975.
