Hooker River

The Hooker River is a river of New Zealand. It flows south from the Hooker Glacier, which lies on the southern slopes of Aoraki/Mount Cook, before joining with the braided streams of the Tasman River. The Hooker River drains both the Hooker and Mueller Glaciers and is the principal ablation outlet for these ice masses. You can see the glacier at the end of the river

Lake Matheson, New Zealand Featured Tasman Print

Lake Matheson, New Zealand

Lake Matheson is a very short drive, 10 minutes, from Fox Glacier. It is a traditional Maori people gathering location to enjoy the sharing of food. There is a walking circuit around the lake, taking about one hour, with walkways and viewing platforms to enjoy the reflections and numerous birdlife. The visitors centre features an award winning cafe / restaurant. Even when the cloud is down and mountain activities are curtailed this location is a great place to spend some time and enjoy the landscape at low level
