Augustin de Saint-Aubin Collection

Augustin de Saint-Aubin (1736-1807) was a French draughtsman, engraver and painter. He was born in Paris and trained under his father, Claude-Germain de Saint-Aubin. He became a member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in 1762. His works were mainly based on historical scenes and portraits, as well as genre scenes such as "The Marriage Contract" (1766). He also produced illustrations for books such as "Les Métamorphoses d'Ovide" (1767). His work is characterized by its delicate line work, fine detail, and subtle use of color. Augustin de Saint-Aubin's works are held in many public collections including the Louvre Museum in Paris.
