Salvator Rosa Collection

Salvator Rosa (1615-1673) was an Italian Baroque painter, poet, and printmaker. He is best known for his dramatic landscapes and bold use of light and shade. His works often featured scenes of wild nature populated by bandits, shepherds, and other figures from classical mythology. Rosa also painted religious subjects such as the Crucifixion of St Peter and the Martyrdom of St Lawrence. He was a prolific etcher as well, producing over 200 prints during his lifetime.
