He has been involved in the Scottish art scene for over 20 years, working with a range of organisations to promote and develop the visual arts in Scotland. He has held a number of roles including Chair of Visual Arts Scotland, Director at Creative Scotland and Chief Executive at Glasgow Museums. His work has seen him receive numerous awards including an MBE for services to the visual arts in 2010. James is passionate about connecting people with art and culture, believing that everyone should have access to great art experiences regardless of their background or circumstances. He continues to be active in promoting the value of creativity and its importance within society today.
