Adolphe Giraudon Collection

Adolphe Giraudon was a French sculptor and painter born in 1845. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was trained by famous sculptors such as Auguste Rodin and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. His works were mainly figurative sculptures of mythological figures, animals and portraits. He also painted landscapes and marine scenes. Giraudon exhibited his works at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1872 to 1906, where he won several medals for his sculptures. He was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1895 for his contribution to French art. His works are held in many public collections around France including the Musée d'Orsay, Louvre Museum and Musée de la Ville de Paris.
