Photograph showing (left to right): President Herbert Hoover, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, at the re-creation of the lamp which magically awoke the World to a new brilliance fifty years before. The wizard of Menlo Park in New Jersey, reconstructed the lamp in the same laboratory in which he made his original experiments. The meeting of theses three men, Hoover, Ford and Edison, constitutes a saga of American endeavour and opportunity. President Hoover started as an engineer, Ford as a bicycle mechanic and Edison as a newboy and Hawker of fruit on the railway train. Date

Bagley Avenue - The birthplace of the Ford Car, Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan, USA.In this brick shed at the rear of 58 Bagley Avenue, Henry Ford carried on some of his early automobile experiments while employed as an engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company. Three lathes, drill presses and hand tools are those used in building his first car. The right hand door had to be torn out and made larger as Mr Ford forgot to measure the door when he built the car inside! Date: 1945

Seated: Flt Lt Tommy Walsh, Flt Lt Guy Turner, Sqn Ldr Alan Marsh, AFC (CO), Flt Lt Maurice Houdret and F/O Willie Dunn (Eng Off). Personnel identified on 5 July 2007 by Sqn Ldr Basil Arkell, RAF (Retd), the last known surviving pilot from No 529 Squadron. The photo was taken just prior to Basil joining the squadron. Date: 1943
