Lewis Carroll Collection

Lewis Carroll was an English writer, mathematician, and photographer. He is best known for his novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. His works are noted for their use of logic, word play, and fantasy. Carroll was born in Daresbury, Cheshire in 1832 and attended Christ Church at Oxford University where he studied mathematics. He wrote many books including The Hunting of the Snark (1876) and Sylvie & Bruno (1889). In addition to writing books he also wrote poetry, composed music, took photographs of children including Alice Liddell who inspired his works about Alice. His works have been adapted into films such as Disney's 1951 animated film “Alice in Wonderland” as well as numerous stage plays and musicals. Lewis Carroll died on January 14th 1898 at the age of 65 leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire readers today.
