Edward Paxman Brandard Collection

Edward Paxman Brandard is an artist, art historian, and curator. He was born in London in 1878 and studied at the Slade School of Art. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1901 to 1914. His works include landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and genre scenes. He also wrote several books on art history including “The History of English Painting” (1914). Brandard was a prolific writer who wrote articles for many magazines such as The Studio Magazine and The Connoisseur Magazine. He also lectured on art history at various institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Brandard's work has been exhibited around the world including shows in Paris, New York City, Toronto, Melbourne and Sydney. His works are held by many public collections such as Tate Britain and the National Gallery of Scotland.
