George the Elder Barret Collection

George the Elder Barret was an 18th-century British landscape painter and draughtsman. He was born in 1732 in London, England and studied under the renowned artist Thomas Hudson. He became a member of the Royal Academy in 1770 and exhibited at its annual shows until his death in 1784. His works were highly sought after by many prominent figures of his time, including King George III.
