EDITORS COMMENTS
In this electrifying image captured by acclaimed photographer David Price at Emirates Stadium on November 4, 2009, Andrey Arshavin of Arsenal Football Club celebrates a goal against AZ Alkmaar's Kew Jaliens in the UEFA Champions League Group H match. The Russian international midfielder, who had only joined Arsenal the previous January, lit up the Emirates that evening with a brilliant performance, scoring a brace and setting up another goal for teammate Robin van Persie. Arshavin's first goal came in the 27th minute, a cool finish from close range after a slick team move. The second goal, a moment of individual brilliance, came in the 61st minute when he dribbled past several defenders before unleashing a powerful shot into the top corner of the net. Arsenal went on to win the match 4-1, securing their place at the top of the group. Kew Jaliens, the Dutch defender for AZ Alkmaar, can be seen in the photo looking on in disbelief as Arshavin celebrates his goal. The image encapsulates the intensity and excitement of a Champions League match, with the passionate Arsenal fans in the background adding to the electric atmosphere. This photograph is a testament to Arshavin's impact on Arsenal during his time at the club, and serves as a reminder of the thrilling football that was played at Emirates Stadium during the 2009-2010 season.
