The August 4th, 2018 encounter at the Friends Arena marked the young defender's first taste of action for the Gunners in their preparations for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Mavropanos, who joined Arsenal from PAS Giannina in January 2018, had spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Nurnberg in the German Bundesliga. His impressive performances in Germany caught the attention of Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who was keen to integrate the 21-year-old into his squad.
