In this electrifying moment captured at Emirates Stadium on January 31,2007, Emmanuel Adebayor of Arsenal Football Club celebrates his goal against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur during the Carling Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg. The goal, which came in the 52nd minute, put Arsenal in a commanding 3-1 lead and brought the crowd to their feet. Flanking Adebayor in the image are Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Anthony Gardner, both of Tottenham Hotspur. Assou-Ekotto, a Cameroon international, was a consistent performer for Spurs during this period, while Gardner, an English defender, made over 100 appearances for the club. Despite their allegiance to Tottenham, they cannot hide their disappointment as they watch Adebayor celebrate his goal. Adebayor, a Togolese international and a fan favorite at Arsenal, scored 62 goals in 142 appearances for the Gunners between 2006 and 2011. This goal, however, is particularly memorable as it came in a highly-anticipated North London Derby, a match that always brings out the best and the worst in both teams and their fans. The Carling Cup, now known as the EFL Cup, is one of the oldest domestic football competitions in England. Winning it would have given Arsenal a much-needed boost in their quest for silverware that season. In the end, Arsenal went on to win the competition, with Adebayor scoring the winning goal in the final against Middlesbrough.
