EDITORS COMMENTS
Great moment captured in this photo as Armand Traore of Arsenal Football Club celebrates after scoring the third goal against Blackburn Rovers during the Carling Cup 5th Round match at Ewood Park on December 18,2007. Traore, a young left-back, joined Arsenal from Auxerre in the summer of 2007 and was making his mark in the first team under manager Arsene Wenger. In this thrilling encounter, Blackburn took an early lead through Matt Derbyshire, but Arsenal fought back with goals from Eduardo and Traore, the latter scoring a stunning volley from the edge of the box to put Arsenal ahead. Derbyshire equalized for Blackburn, but Traore's second goal of the game, a powerful header from a corner kick, secured Arsenal's place in the next round. The atmosphere at Ewood Park was electric, with both sets of fans creating a cacophony of noise throughout the game. Traore's goal sparked wild celebrations among the Arsenal fans, who were delighted to see their team come from behind to win. This photo captures the pure joy and excitement on Traore's face as he celebrates with his teammates, with Derbyshire looking on in disappointment. The image is a testament to the unpredictability and excitement of football, where one moment can change the course of a game and leave a lasting impression on fans. Arsenal went on to reach the final of the Carling Cup that season, ultimately losing to Chelsea in a penalty shootout. Traore made a total of 25 appearances for the Gunners before being loaned out to Aston Villa and then leaving the club permanently in 2011. Derbyshire spent five years at Blackburn, scoring 22 goals in 121 appearances before moving on to Nottingham Forest.
