In this striking photograph, Thomas Vermaelen of Arsenal Football Club triumphantly lifts the ball above his head in celebration after scoring the fourth goal in Arsenal's impressive 4:0 victory over Wigan Athletic during the Barclays Premier League match at Emirates Stadium on September 19, 2009. Vermaelen, a Belgian international defender, joined Arsenal in the summer of 2009 and quickly established himself as a key player for the Gunners. In this moment, Vermaelen's jubilation is matched by that of his teammates and the passionate Arsenal supporters in attendance. The goal came in the second half, securing a comfortable lead for Arsenal and effectively ending any hopes Wigan may have had for a comeback.
