A Lancaster bomber aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) soars over the Derwent Valley Dam in Derbyshire. The famous 'Dambusters' of the RAF's 617 Squadron trained in this valley during the Second World War for their mission.

A Lynx Mk7 taking part in Exercise Gadfly

An Army Lynx Mk7 of 847 Naval Air Squadron (NAS), flying over the French Armee de Terre Base at Gap-Tallard, Southern France as part of Exercise Gadfly.
The main emphasis of Exercise Gadfly was to train the aircrew in the flying of the Lynx Mk7 to the uppermost limits of its performance capabilities in hostile environments. They undertook high altitude mountain training to prepare them for next deployment to Afghanistan.

HMS Ark Royal took part in Ex Joint Warrior formerly known as the Joint Maritime Course (JMC). Ex Joint Warrior provides a multi-threat environment to facilitate a joint collective training for UK, NATO & allied units and their staffs in preparation for employment as part of a combined joint force. The navies of many other countries took part including Sweden, UK, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, New Zealand & the USA.
Ark Royal played host to the Staff of Commander 24th Destroyer Squadron (COMDESRON 24), Cdre Kersh, USN for the duration of the exercise
