13132590. European robin, Erithacus rubecula, singing

European robin, Erithacus rubecula, singing. The robin is diurnal, although has been reported to be active hunting insects on moonlit nights or near artificial light at night. Well known to British and Irish gardeners, it is relatively unafraid of people and drawn to human activities involving the digging of soil, in order to look out for earthworms and other food freshly turned up. Indeed, the robin is considered to be a gardener's friend and for various folklore reasons the robin would never be harmed. In continental Europe on the other hand, robins were hunted and killed as with most other small birds, and are more wary. In autumn and winter, robins will supplement their usual diet of terrestrial invertebrates, such as spiders, worms and insects, with berries and fruit. They will also eat seed mixtures placed on bird-tables. Panoramic photo. Copy space. Portugal Date

Meet the Rockstar of the Garden - The Fearless and Melodious European Robin!

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this panoramic photo, we witness the enchanting beauty of a European robin, Erithacus rubecula, as it serenades us with its delightful song. This diurnal bird is not your average feathered friend; it fearlessly explores moonlit nights and even ventures near artificial light to hunt for insects. Beloved by British and Irish gardeners, this charismatic creature has a special affinity for human activities involving soil digging. With an uncanny ability to spot freshly turned earthworms and other delectable treats, the robin has earned its reputation as every gardener's best buddy. Unlike their cautious counterparts in continental Europe who face hunting threats, these robins are unafraid of humans. They flutter around gardens with colorful plumage that adds vibrancy to any landscape. During autumn and winter months when food becomes scarce, our resourceful little troubadour expands its diet beyond terrestrial invertebrates. Berries and fruits become irresistible temptations while seed mixtures on bird-tables provide additional sustenance. So next time you're out enjoying nature's symphony or tending to your garden oasis, keep an eye out for this friendly redbreasted singer. Remember, according to folklore traditions passed down through generations - never harm a robin!
