Chimpanzees, scientifically known as Pan troglodytes, are not native to Zambia, making it impossible to release them back into the wild. Instead, 2,000 acres of forested land have been dedicated to their care. Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, renowned as the world's largest sanctuary for orphaned chimps, provides a safe haven for these magnificent primates. The chimpanzees at Chimfunshi are given the opportunity to live as naturally as possible in large social groups, allowing them to exhibit their complex behaviors and social structures.
