Sigiriya Rock, Sri Lanka (Unesco world heritage site)

Ancient city of Sigiriya. The ruins of the capital built by King Kassapa I (5th century) lie on the steep slopes and at the summit of a granite peak standing some 180m high (the Lion's Rock, which dominates the jungle from all sides). In 1982 the site was added to the Unesco world heritage list

Monks celebrate the Loy Krathong festival at Wat Phan Ta Featured King Brown Print

Monks celebrate the Loy Krathong festival at Wat Phan Ta

Monks celebrate the Loy Krathong festival at Wat Phan Tao Temple, Chiang Mai, Thailand with candles and sky lanterns in a sombre and moving ceremony which reflects the mourning for King Bhumibol. All the Loy Krathong festivities were reduced in Chiang Mai and across Thailand as a mark for respect, focusing more on the religious aspects of the festival. Paul Brown
