Imbricatus Collection

Imbricatus, also known as the Common Pipistrelle, is a species of Vespertilionidae mammals in the family of bats, and is found in Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. The body length ranges from 3 to 4 cm, with a wingspan between 20 and 25 cm. Its fur is usually grey-brown or reddish-brown in colour with white tips on its ears and wings. It feeds mainly on small insects such as moths, mosquitoes, flies and beetles which it catches while flying at night. Imbricatus roosts during the day in crevices or hollow trees but can also be found under bridges or buildings. It hibernates during winter months when food sources are scarce. This species is considered to be common throughout its range but may be threatened by habitat destruction due to human activities such as deforestation and urbanisation.
