Three Toed Sloth Collection

The three-toed sloth is a mammal found in the rainforests of Central and South America, and is an arboreal animal, meaning it spends most of its life in trees. The three-toed sloth has a slow metabolism and moves very slowly, making it an easy target for predators. Its fur is thick and shaggy to help keep it warm in the cold temperatures of its habitat and has long claws that help it climb trees and hang upside down from branches. Its diet consists mainly of leaves, buds, fruits, insects, and small lizards. Sloths are solitary animals that sleep for up to 15 hours a day but can be seen out during the day when they are looking for food or mates. They have poor eyesight but excellent hearing which helps them detect predators from far away distances. Three-toed sloths are considered endangered due to deforestation and hunting by humans as well as predation by jaguars and harpy eagles.
