Tapir Collection

Tapirs are mammals that belong to the Tapiridae family and are native to South America, Central America, and Southeast Asia. They have a stocky body with short legs, a short snout, and an extended upper lip. Tapirs have thick fur that is usually brown or black in color with white markings on their faces and legs, and are herbivores and feed mainly on leaves, fruits, grasses, aquatic plants, bark, buds and shoots. Tapirs also use their long snouts to dig for roots in the soil. They live in dense forests near water sources such as rivers or lakes where they can find food easily. Tapirs communicate by making loud noises such as honks or whistles which can be heard up to 1 km away. These animals are shy but social creatures who live in small groups of up to five individuals including one dominant male who defends his territory from other males.
