Coast Mole Collection

Coast Mole (Talpidae) is a small mammal found in coastal areas of the Northern Hemisphere, and are most commonly found in sandy or rocky shorelines, where they dig extensive burrows and tunnels to feed on invertebrates. Coast Moles have a cylindrical body shape with short legs and long claws for digging. They have a greyish-brown fur coat that helps them blend into their environment, as well as small eyes and ears that are almost completely hidden beneath their fur. Coast Moles eat mainly worms, insects, mollusks, crustaceans and other invertebrates which they find by digging through the sand or mud along the shoreline. They also consume plant material such as roots and tubers when available. In addition to providing food for predators such as foxes and owls, Coast Moles also help aerate soil which can improve water drainage in coastal areas.
