Sperm Whale Collection

The Sperm Whale (Physeteridae) is a large mammal that belongs to the cetacean family, and is the largest of all toothed whales, and can reach up to 18 meters in length and weigh up to 57 metric tons. They have a distinctive rounded head with a single blowhole on top, and their lower jaw has 20-26 large conical teeth, and are found in all oceans around the world, but prefer deep waters near continental shelves or islands. They feed mainly on squid but also eat fish and other marine creatures. Sperm whales communicate using clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls which are used for navigation, communication between individuals or groups of whales, as well as for finding food sources. Their skin is usually dark gray with white patches on their bellies; they also have wrinkled skin which helps them reduce drag while swimming through water at high speeds.
