Australian Sea Lion Collection

The Australian Sea Lion (Otariidae) is a species of marine mammal found along the southern coast of Australia, and is the only species of sea lion native to Australia, and one of three species in the Otariidae family, thick fur coat that ranges from light brown to dark grey in color, and can reach lengths up to 2.5 meters and weigh up to 300 kilograms, and are highly social animals, living in large colonies on rocky shorelines and islands off the coast of Australia. They feed mainly on fish and cephalopods, diving up to 60 meters deep for food. These animals are listed as vulnerable due to their low population numbers caused by human activities such as fishing nets entanglement, habitat destruction, pollution, climate change and illegal hunting. Conservation efforts have been put into place in order to protect this species from further decline.
