Pusillus Collection

Pusillus is a genus of molossid mammals in the family Molossidae, and are found in South America, primarily in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay and can small to medium-sized bats with short ears and long wings. They feed on insects such as moths and beetles that they catch while flying or by gleaning from foliage. Their roosts can be found in hollow trees, caves, or buildings. They have a unique mating system where males form harems of up to five females which they defend against other males. Females give birth to one pup at a time after a gestation period of around three months. These bats are important for controlling insect populations and help maintain healthy ecosystems.
