Tippelskirchi Collection

Tippelskirchi is a species of giraffid mammal that is native to the savannas and woodlands of Central Africa, and is the tallest living terrestrial animal in the world, reaching heights of up to 5.5 meters (18 feet). Its coat pattern consists of large, irregular spots and blotches on a light tan background. The head has two large ossicones, or horns, which are used for fighting during mating season. Tippelskirchi feed primarily on leaves and buds from trees and shrubs in their habitat, but they will also eat grasses when available. They live in small family groups consisting of one male and several females with their young offspring. These animals are threatened by habitat loss due to human activities such as deforestation and poaching for bushmeat. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species from extinction by increasing awareness about its plight among local communities as well as providing protected areas for them to live in peace.
