Gibbon Collection

Gibbons are small, slender primates found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, and are members of the family Hylobatidae and are known for their long arms and legs, which they use to swing through trees. Gibbons have a distinctive call that can be heard from up to two miles away. They live in small family groups consisting of a monogamous pair and their offspring. Gibbons feed mainly on fruit, leaves, flowers, insects and bird eggs. They spend most of their time in the trees but may come down to the ground occasionally to search for food or water, and are endangered due to habitat destruction and hunting for bushmeat or pets. Conservation efforts have been put into place in some areas but more needs to be done if these animals are going to survive into the future.
