Lanius is a genus of mammals belonging to the family Geomyidae, and are commonly known as shrikes, and they are found in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. They have a distinctive appearance with a long hooked bill and black-and-white plumage. Lanius species feed on insects, small birds, lizards, rodents and other small animals.
