Elephant Seal Collection

Elephant seals are large marine mammals that live in the Pacific and Southern Oceans and can grow up to 16 feet long and weigh up to 8,000 pounds. Elephant seals have a thick layer of blubber that helps them stay warm in cold water. They also have a long snout with nostrils on the top of their head which they use for breathing while underwater. Elephant seals spend most of their time at sea, but come ashore during breeding season to mate and give birth. Males are much larger than females and establish harems on land where they protect their territory from other males. Females give birth to one pup each year, which is then cared for by its mother until it is ready to fend for itself after about six months.
