Canvas 12.5 x 16.5 ins, signed
Cheroot was born in 1886 and was owned by G W Cook. He was out of a bitch named Busy whose details are unknown and he was sired by Cavendish, a wire dog who went back to the Smooths, Old Jock, Tyrant, Old Trap and Grove Nettle, all shown in William Eddowes Turner's painting, Fox Terriers at Newstead Abbey, also in the Kennel Club's collection. Cheroot was nearly all white but with a black tail spot
