Trials on the Yorkshire Moors: the Irish Water Spaniels. The field trial meeting of the Irish Water Spaniel Association, 1931, was held at Anley and Rainscar at the invitation of Col. J. Birkbeck and Mr G. Geoffrey Dawson. Top image shows the guns on the moors: a general view of the Irish Water Spaniel Association's field trials on Rainscar Moor, near Settle in Yorkshire. Dog winners shown: Rounton Sea Trout and Lyddite Joy owned by Major B. Court-Treatt.

Mrs. Santers English Springer Spaniels

The three dogs are Ch.Dry Toast, in the foreground, Ch.Winning Number of Solway and Ch.Nimble of Hamsey. Dry Toast was the model used by Royal Doulton for the English Springer introduced into their'Champions Dogs series in 1938. Nimble won the Challenge Certificate at Crufts in 1936 and 37 and Winning Number won in 1932 and 35. Many generations back, Winning Number is in the Pedigrees of several winning dogs today. Dry Toast had winning progeny worldwide and is behind famous dogs owned by Mrs. Howard, Lady Lambe and Miss Francis and because of the bitches he was used on, is behind many successful Field Trial dogs as well as show dogs
