Raccoon Dog Collection

The Raccoon Dog is a species of wild canine native to East Asia, and is the only extant species in the genus Nyctereutes, and is considered a basal member of the Canidae family, thick fur coat that ranges from yellowish-gray to reddish-brown in color, with a distinctive black mask around its eyes and bushy tail. Its diet consists mainly of small animals such as insects, rodents, birds, fish and amphibians. It also feeds on fruits and nuts when available. The Raccoon Dog is an opportunistic omnivore that will scavenge for food if necessary. It typically lives in small family groups consisting of one male and several females with their young offspring, and are active mainly at night but may be seen during daylight hours as well, and are known for their intelligence and resourcefulness which makes them successful predators in their environment despite being relatively small animals compared to other canids such as wolves or foxes.
