Argali Collection

Argali (Ovis ammon) are a species of wild sheep found in the mountains of Central Asia, and are the largest species of wild sheep, with males reaching up to 1.5 meters tall and weighing up to 140 kilograms. They have thick, woolly coats that range in color from grayish-brown to white and yellowish-brown. Their horns are large and curved, growing up to 1 meter long on males. Argali live in small herds, typically consisting of one male and several females with their young. They feed on grasses, shrubs, lichens and other vegetation found at high elevations in their mountainous habitats and can threatened by habitat loss due to overgrazing by domestic livestock as well as poaching for their horns which are used for traditional medicine or decoration purposes. Conservation efforts have been implemented in some areas but more needs to be done if this majestic species is going to survive into the future.
