Stainforth Packhorse Bridge Featured Salmon Print

Stainforth Packhorse Bridge

The famous Stainforth packhorse bridge spanning the River Ribble, Yorkshire Dales national park, UK. The bridge was built in 1675 to enable passage at all times rather than wading through a ford. The bridge linked the two halves of the community together and also enabled the packhorse trains to cross. Today the bridge is crossed by tourists, either walkers or cyclists. The river is also famous for the salmon run during the autumn and Stainforth Foss is only a few yards downstream from the bridge

Fall colors and Margaree river, Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada

Margaree river is a river on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The northeast branch of the river derives from the watershed of the Cape Breton Highlands, while the Southwest Margaree flows northeast from Lake Ainslie. The two branches join at Margaree Forks. The river then flows north to empty into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence at Margaree Harbor, Nova Scotia. The river is 120 km in length and drains an area of 1, 375 km square. The Margaree has been well known for a century for its trout and Atlantic salmon sport fishery, that draws anglers from near and far
