Common remora (Remora remora)
Common remora (Remora remora), attached to the dorsal surface of a Manta ray (Manta birostris). Its sucker disc is on top of the head. Remoras are opportunistic feeders, often gaining food scraps from their feeding host, but may take parasitic crustaceans from their host. It is likely however that the Manta rays do not appreciate their free riders. San Benedicto Island, Mexico
