Black Faced Monarch Collection

Black Faced Monarch is a species of bird native to Australia, New Guinea and nearby islands, and is a medium-sized passerine bird that has a black face and throat, white underparts and wings with black tips. The upperparts are greyish-brown with some yellow patches on the wings. The bill is black and the legs are greyish-brown. This species can be found in woodlands, heaths, grasslands and open forests where it feeds on insects such as beetles, flies, caterpillars and spiders. It also eats fruits such as figs or berries when available. Breeding occurs in spring or summer when they build cup shaped nests in trees or shrubs using twigs, grasses and other materials. They lay two to three eggs which are incubated by both parents for about two weeks before hatching into chicks that fledge after another two weeks of care from their parents, and are an important part of the ecosystem as they help control insect populations while providing food for other animals like snakes or raptors.
